Sophia Messick is a solid 2023 combo guard that attends Saint Mark's High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Strong, athletic build - 5'7 / 170lbs. Plays the game very physical. Great overall skill set. Excellent work ethic and highly competitive. First Team All Conference, 3rd Team All State selection an d team captain in 2021-22. Also named one of the top 15 players in the state (Northern Delaware).
Junior season averages: 15.5 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 40% behind the 3 point line.
Great Leader who leads vocally and by example. Very high basketball IQ, plays the game the right way. Legitimate three-level scorer. She has great range stretching out comfortably beyond the arc. She can score off the bounce via pull up going to either hand. Very efficient floater in the lane.
She has a seasoned finishing package with either hand around the rim. And when attacking the rim she has a body that is already suited for the next level that can finish through contact and then accurately convert at the free throw line; shoots 88% from the line.
Great ball handler, sees the floor very well and though she can score the ball she always looks to get her teammates involved. Good footwork, and body control. Deceptively quick hands on the defensive end. Plays the game aggressively on both ends of the floor.
Sophia is true gym rat who works incredibly hard at her craft and it shows to be paying dividends by the player that she has become. She is not afraid of work, nor is she afraid to be challenged, and because of that she will only continue to grow as a player in all facets.
Academically, Sophia is a high honor roll student and maintains a 3.7 GPA.. Sophia projects as a very solid collegiate level combo guard. She would be an asset for many college level basketball programs.

Prospective Coaches:
My name is Sophia Messick and I'm a class of 2023 Combo Guard at Saint Mark's High School in Wilmington, Delaware. My goal has always been to continue my education and basketball career at the collegiate level.
Let me tell you a little about myself and why I feel I deserve to play basketball at the next level. Academically I am very strong in the classroom and maintain a 3.7 GPA. I also feel I have a very strong work ethic, mentality, and overall basketball skillset. I work on my craft several hours a day because of my desire and passion to play in college. I know I’m an important player on the floor at all times. I can score at all three levels on the court and I love to set my teammates up for sucess by creating for others. Me being a knockdown shooter and an aggressive ball handler I’m able to consistently get to my spots on the floor and will do anything to help my team. I am a 3rd team All State, Top 15, and 1st Team All conference selection.
My character speaks even louder than my game. I lead vocally and by example and my work ethic is infectious to all around me. I will make an immediate difference at your school on the court and in the classroom.
