Scouting Report

Marissa Gingrich is a very talented Class of 2023 basketball prospect that attends Mifflin County High School in Lewistown, Pennsylvania.

Marissa is a very smooth and crafty lefty Combo guard. Marissa has a great handle with the ball, as well as very fundamental and creative footwork. She uses both to get to any spot on the court that she needs to at that time. When Marissa gets to her spots, this is where you really see her ability. Marissa is a very good and efficient catch and shoot guard from mid-range (when coming off of screens) or from three point range. However it doesn’t stop there. Marissa knows when to and how to curl off of screens or beat her defender off of the dribble. She gets in the paint and finishes with both hands at the rim with lay ups or floaters, or hits teammates with great passes so they can finish the play. She has very sneaky athleticism and speed and its really complimented by her ability to know change of pace and when to switch gears.

Marissa plays with a nice poise and it’s definitely due to her high basketball IQ. She’s the daughter of a very experienced high school and AAU coach and has been raised around the game. She takes great care is the ball and helps limit turnovers on any team she is on. Because of this quality, she’s more than capable of playing the point guard position as well.

That sneaky athleticism and speed can be seen on the defensive in as well! Marissa is a good rebounder at her size. She always pushes the ball up the court so if she gets a rebounder she usually turning the play into early offense. Marissa very good at keeping ball handlers in front of her in man to man defense and also understanding and executing in zone sets. Marissa is a true student of the game.

Marissa is very driven with excellent work ethic on and off the court! She is a very good student and carries a 93 percent GPA.

Personal Message

Hello Coach,

My name is Marissa Gingrich and I am a class of 2023 Combo Guard from Lewistown, Pennsylvania. My earliest memories of basketball are watching my father’s varsity boys’ teams play and dribbling a basketball after the games. Of course, being the daughter of a coach, I went to the gym with him a lot, watched high school and college games on tv with him, and always had a basketball in my hands. When I first played on a team in 2nd grade, I was 2 years younger than everyone, and the smallest player on the team.

Despite those facts, deep down, I knew that I was better skilled than most of the boys and girls in the league. After realizing at an early age that I was blessed with athleticism, and that certain basketball skills came easier to me than others, it was the hard work that I put in over the next 8 years that put me in a position to be considered a college prospect. I pride myself on being a hard worker, someone who listens to criticism, and on being a great teammate. I enjoy seeing my teammates succeed just as much as myself. I look forward to the opportunity of being a college athlete.

Please consider me in your class of 2023 recruitment class!

Sincerely,

Marissa Gingrich
